 Fishing Buddies Improved
what The Fishing Buddies program is getting more members and they are going fishing together. The group quickly outgrew the primitive initial email rig. Rodney Chun put in some hours on the problem and has set up a mailing list through Yahoo. It is still simple to use—easy-to-follow instructions are included in the Fishing Buddies box on the Roster page. An additional feature that some of you will welcome is being able to send a message to the Fishing Buddies list without being a member of that list. An improvement is self-registration: no waiting for the webmaster to code you into the list.

Judging by this bit of work, I think you're going to like the job Rodney will do on the website when he takes over in July.
 Survey Results
what: Results from the survey of members' opinions about several aspects of the club have been tabulated and analyzed by Allen Cary. As in past surveys, the number of responders was pitiful. This statistic is not part of Allen's analysis, so you will have to draw your own conclusion about what it means. Read the survey results.
the survey: Download the Acrobat .pdf survey.

 Applause For GGACC Spey-O-Rama
what: A big round of applause should be given to the Golden Gate Anglers and their new president, Wayne Taylor, for putting on the Spey-O-Rama that was held in Golden Gate Park at the casting ponds. There was a competition with some of the greatest Spey casters in the world available for instruction and counseling on the use of the Spey technique. The competition was Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Additionally, there was Spey casting demonstration Sunday afternoon. Unofficial demonstrations took place on Monday afternoon as well.
 Interior Secretary's Letter Of Recognition
what: US Secretary Of The Interior Gale Norton has sent the FFF a Letter of Recognition for the coming 40th anniversary of the Federation of Fly Fishers. Read comments and the letter at the FFF website.
 Women's West Coast Rendezvous
what: The International Women Fly Fishers with the support of the Shasta Mayflies in Redding is hosting a three-day, West Coast Regional Rendezvous in Shasta City (Northern California) for women fly fishers to connect, fish together and have fun.

 Bonefish and Shad
what: If you are lucky enough to be going on the bonefishing trip, take a look again at Igor Doncov's "Bonefishing Tips". If you can't travel so far, but want a hard tugging, run into the backing fishing experience, try shad. We have three articles about shad fishing archived in the Fishing How-To section.
Stan Konrad Wants Partners For Alaska Do-It-Yourself
when: July or August 2004
the plan: An unguided float trip on an Alaskan river. I have no definite plans as of yet, just in the process of researching. About ten years ago we had some speakers, I believe from a Fresno club, who did it every year and loved it. They just brought their inflatable raft, got a float plane to fly them in and pick them up a week later downriver. Said that it wasn't too costly. Any members interested in such a trip should contact .
Roger Finke's Silver Salmon Alaska Fishout
when:18–25 September 2004
where:Tsiu River, Alaska
quarry:Silver Salmon
details: This stream, about midway between Cordova and Yakutat, is regarded by many as the premier Silver (Coho) salmon stream in Alaska. The fish are larger than in many other streams, ranging 20–25 pounds, and will readily take surface lures. We will overnight in Yakutat on the way up, and in Seattle on the way back, spending 5+ days fishing.
reservations: Book very soon, because this is the peak season in SE Alaska and both the flights into Yakutat and lodging there fill up very early. The only lodge on the river also will fill early as only twenty anglers can be accommodated on the entire river.
cost:
lodge$2250
airfare round-trip from SFO$1100 approx
miscellaneous$ 200 approx
total$3500 approx
