 This Month's Speaker
what: The October Speaker is the fly fishing ranger from Santa Clara County Parks, Ed Anchetta. If you have ever wondered about when and where to fish locally, then you should attend the meeting and take the information on local waters home with you. Recently Ed and I were discussing the local waters, and he informed me that the O'Neil Forebay was fishing well for stripers. He had just visited the forebay and caught forty stripers that weekend. Exactly where? Attend and ask Ed.
dinner: We'll leave for Harry's Hofbrau at approximately 6PM. Be there, and enjoy an informal opportunity to visit with our guest speaker.

New PFF Email Broadcast Service Rollout
what: In an effort to make our communication system more efficient, we will be introducing a new email service which will enable us to broadcast messages such as the announcement of the monthly speaker to our members. The new system, provided by Yahoo, will be similar to the Fishing Buddies scheme, but each message will require a moderator's explicit permission before it can be relayed to the members. You will probably receive an introductory email from Yahoo groups in November when we add your email to the list.
New Archive of Past PFF Home Pages
what: A new feature has been added to the website! We are now archiving the past front pages of the website. To browse to the index, click the link in the "Angler's Curriculum" section on the current home page named "Back Issues". These pages serve as a historical record of the front page material, plus any announcements made that month.
Fly Tying Class Sessions To Start November
what: The beginners and intermediate fly tying classes will start with November's workshop, and will meet once a month through May, 2005.
who: Harold Patterson will be teaching the beginners class (click for syllabus).
Dave Kruss will teach the intermediate–advanced sessions (click for syllabus).
 Local Fly Shop Closes
what: Frank Perazzo has shut the doors of his Ultimate Fly Shop (in recent years Ultimate Sportfishing). He is seeking greener pastures in the field of real estate. He has some hope that he'll actually get to fish more, now. His shop was a long-time supporter of our club, for which we are grateful. Many will miss the Ultimate.
  Donate Used Fly Tying Equipment
what: The club is trying to establish an inventory of basic fly tying equipment for the beginners fly tying class. Do you have any "pre-owned" equipment that you'd like to donate? We are particularly interested in vises but all donations (bobbins, scissors, bodkins, stackers, etc.) are welcomed.
