You will notice an immediate difference by clicking on the "All Events" link in the main menu (in the Calendar section). Try it out and tell us what you think!

 Spring Fly Swap
what: A fly swap is a way of exchanging flies. We have two swaps running right now: Drys and Surface Terrestrials and Nymphs and Streamers. Click the links to see the flies that have already been submitted, and to learn more about the ground rules. There are lots of open spaces so sign up if you want to participate! All flies are due by May 15.

  • 3 lakes with cabins at each lake
  • All food including moose, elk, venison, cariboo, and wild bison
  • Beer, wine and other adult beverages
  • 4 round-trip float plaine trips: from Williams Lake, BC to each lake and back
  • 2 boats with motor and gas at each of the 3 lakes
  • 2 lakes also have kayaks and float tubes
9-day cost: $1900, fishing 3 of the lakes
6-day cost: $1600, fishing 2 of the lakes
other costs: Airfare from your location to Williams Lake, BC
British Columbia fishing license
Taxi from Williams Lake airport to Williams Lake where we meet the float plane.
where: Lakes close to Williams Lake, BC
when: 2 – 11 July 2005
more info: The Outdoor Channel (the one with the moose logo) TV show Familiar Waters is doing a 3 partner on this location and 100 Mile Charter starting May 15th. They have rated these lakes as one of the world's 10 best trout fisheries. You don't need to be an expert fisherperson, but this is not a trip for beginners. You also need to be reasonably fit as we haul water from the lake, do all of our own cooking, operate the boats and hike to other lakes. Reports from my 2003 ("No Bears Guaranteed") and 2004 ("British Columbia Lakes 2004") trips to this location are available by following the links.

If you are interested and know someone else who is interested in the trip, invite them and let me know.

when: 6 – 7 September 2005
cost: $1,100 per person. Includes two days of fishing with guides, boats, gratuities, 3 nights at Spring Creek Ranch, meals, car rental, airfare, and fishing license.

  Kistler Ranch Fishout Details
what: Fish for bass and bluegill the weekend before Memorial Day. We made it earlier to free up that holiday weekend for those you have made plans. We could use help in organizing this fishout, especially in the food and drinks. This is a great time, a very social occasion, spiced up with good fishing. The rains this year mean plenty of water and the prospects for healthy, aggressive fish.
when: 22 May 2005 (Sunday)
cost: Around $15 per person

 Upper Sac Fishout Details
what: We will start Saturday morning off with an on-water nymphing clinic taught by Ron Hart, a well-known expert and guide on the area's waters. Ron will cover topics including: stream entomology, water reading, rigging, casting technique, drag free drifts, hook set, playing, and finally landing and releasing fish.

Immediately after the clinic we will break for a potluck lunch and then fish the river in the afternoon either right at the city park, or if there is a consensus, we can hike up to beautiful Mossbrae Falls. If you've never fished the Upper Sac, you're in for a treat!
where: Upper Sacramento River, near Dunsmuir
when: 17 September 2005 (Saturday)
cost: Depends on number of anglers. If we can get 10 members to join the clinic, the tuition will be $20 per person, and possibly less expensive if we get more participants.
