 July Activities Night Events
what: The July activities night continues with three events.
fly tying: Dave Kruss and Harold Patterson will be providing fly tying help to beginners and intermediate students who wish to continue their skills in a more informal setting. They are both open to suggestions so if you have a particular pattern you'd like to try, contact either of them.
tackle & gear: Mike McGuire will teach a class on outfitting for a hiking/fly fishing trip. When you're up in the mountains, every ounce counts. Mike will show you how to economize on weight and still be able to fish where most of the hikers can't get to. See this month's "How To" article for a preview.
rod building: Doug Webber will continue work with his current students as they finish up their current projects. For those of you interested in starting rod building, his class-cycle will start anew with the Sept. 1 Activities Night meeting.
when: 7 July 2005 (Thursday); 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
where: Highland Community Club

Tie Flies to Support the Club
what: The July Installation Dinner is less than two months off. One of the most popular events at the dinner is the silent auction, featuring flies tied by PFF members. You can help the club and your fellow non-tying PFF colleagues by tying up a dozen (or two) of your favorite pattern for the auction.

Put any fly donations in a plastic bag (or other container) and give them to Dave Kruss. He will transfer them to our custom PFF fly boxes for the auction. See Dave to make arrangements for your delivery.
why: The silent auction is one of our major fundraising events and we typically have 20 to 30 boxes of flies on the auction block. But even more fun for a fly tier is to see how much members are willing to pay for their creations.

 Annual Membership Renewal
what: Membership renewal forms will be going out into the mail shortly so watch your mailboxes. If you don't received your renewal form in the mail by the end of June, contact JC (our membership chairman) or download the renewal form by clicking this link. Follow the instructions to fill out the form, include payment, and mail it to JC at the address on the form.
note: Please fill out the entire form as if you applying for the first time. This will make it much easier for us to generate the new roster since we can work from your handwritten forms. We have worked hard to control costs, so dues this year are the same as last year ($30).

what: As reported here last month, Mike Pinelli, has graciously volunteered to take on the reponsibilities as editor of the paper newsletter. The first edition should be hitting your mailboxes soon.
note: Please keep in mind that it is substantially more expensive to the club to print and mail these newsletters and the content will follow the web version closely. Also, we will post a pdf file on the website each month that will allow you to download and print your own paper newsletter. If you would like to save the club some money and save some trees by using the current web version, please notify either Mike or .
