| | Nomination Committee Formed |
| what: |
The end of the 2004-05 fiscal year is rapidly approaching. At this time the
club forms an ad-hoc nominating committee to prepare a confidential slate of
nominees for leadership positions including officers, directors, and committee chairmen.
This year's nominating committee will be chaired by Rodney Chun with the expert assistance
of Mike McGuire and Chris Rich.
|
| your input: |
There will be several new openings on the PFF Board of Directors, as well as a full
slate of new officers for the 2005-06 year. If you or any PFF member you know would
like to volunteer as a director, officer, or committee chairman, please approach one
of the Nomination Committee members or any of the current officers. Board positions
are two-year appointments. Committee chairs and officers typically serve a minimum
of one year.
|
| it's fun: |
OK, now that all the serious stuff has been said, we can roll up our sleeves. Serving
as a PFF volunteer is both fun and incredibly satisfying. It's an opportunity to
demonstrate community leadership and to work with a great group of people. And
to top it all off, you get invited out to fish a lot!

| | Events at June Activities Night |
| what: |
The June activities night continues with three events. |
| fly tying: |
Although the Intermediate/Advanced class has concluded, the Beginner's flytying will
hold one more session in June with Harold teaching his "Trout Candy." There will be
a new summer schedule available shortly for those beginners and intermediate fly tiers
who wish to continue. |
| gear: |
Mike McGuire will teach a special class on furled leaders. He is the author
of this article
on creating these great leaders, which turn a fly over much better than
tapered mono leaders. Moreover, using the same setup, he makes beautiful
braided cord out of inexpensive sparkle thread (sold at JoAnn Fabrics)
perfect for fly tying. Come find out how. |
| rod building: |
Doug Webber will continue work with his current students as they finish up
their current projects. For those of you interested in starting rod building,
his class-cycle will start anew with the Sept. 1 Activities Night meeting.

| | Kistler Ranch Fishout Space Still Available |
| what: |
The Kistler Ranch Fishout is shaping up! By current estimates there will be at least
20 PFF members out there chasing the bass and bluegill on Sunday May 22. Space is
still available for those of you still sitting on the fence. Also, we could use help in organizing
this fishout, especially with the food and drinks. This is a great time, a very social
occasion, spiced up with good fishing. The rains this year mean plenty of water and the
prospects for healthy, aggressive fish.

| | Rebirth of the Paper Newsletter |
| what: |
PFF member, Mike Pinelli, has graciously volunteered to take on the
reponsibilities as editor of the paper newsletter. As many of you know
the club has been without a hard-copy newsletter ever since the previous
editor, Dennis Maxwell, moved to South Carolina.
|
details: |
Publication will start with June 2005 and will contain articles
from the past year as well as content taken from the current web issue. It would help if
you could spread the word to non-internet users. If you are interested
in receiving the paper newsletter, please contact Mike Pinelli. Keep in
mind that it is substantially more expensive to the club to print and
mail these newsletters and the content will follow the web version closely. Also,
we will post a pdf file on the website each month that will allow you to
download and print your own paper newsletter. So please sign up for the
all-paper version only if you are not satisfied with the web version.

| | Tie Flies to Support the Club |
| what: |
The July Installation Dinner is just two months off. One of the most popular events
at the dinner is the silent auction, featuring flies tied by all of you. You can help the
club and your fellow non-tying PFF comrades by tying up a dozen (or two)
of your favorite pattern for the auction.
Put any fly donations in a plastic bag (or other container) and give them
to Dave Kruss. He will transfer them to our custom PFF fly boxes for the auction.
See Dave to make arrangements for your delivery.
|
| why: |
The silent auction is one of our major fundraising events. But even more fun for
a fly tier is to see how much members are willing to pay for their creations.
