| | March Speaker |
| who: |
Sam Mihara |
| background: |
This month we are anticipating Sam Mihara. Sam is a member of the Long Beach,
California, Casting Club - one of the longest established organizations (75 years)
dedicated to casting and fly-fishing. He specializes in outdoor photography,
writing and giving seminars on fly-fishing in distant locales.
Sam has traveled the world over the last 30 years and began developing
fly-fishing skills 20 years ago in New Zealand. Since then, he goes to Alaska
every summer doing research on finding the best waters and affordable lodging and travel.

| | Fishout Schedule 2006 |
| what: |
The (always evolving) fishout web page has been updated to reflect the 2006
trips in the pipeline. You can check it out by clicking this link (2006
Fishouts). |
| else: |
The club welcomes new ideas about where to wet
a line. Even better, why not volunteer to lead a fishout. It's not
very hard and a great way to meet lots of PFF'ers.
(Some help: Fishmaster tips are in your annual
roster and on our website.)

Tom Kilfoil has also generously volunteered to be the fishmaster for this
event. This is always a fun time and very social. And by the way, there's
lots of great fishing too. With plenty of rain this year, the ponds should
be in great shape.
Tom will be signing people up throughout March and April. For more details, contact
him at 650-342-6434 or by email (below).

| | Kiene's Expo 2006 |
| what: |
Although the winter fly fishing shows are over (and all I have is
a new 10 weight rod as a souvenir), the local fly shops are starting
to schedule their Spring open houses. Some of these feature quite a
line-up of celebrities. Bill Kiene's shop in Sacramento is one of the
standouts every year. (Other worthy fly shop open houses include the San
Jose Fly Shop, the Orvis Palo Alto Shop, and the Western Sport Shop.
We will post these as they become available.)
|
| when: |
April 22, Saturday from 9:00am till 5:00pm.
|
| who: |
Here's the list of guest tiers and fly fishing personalities: Chico Fernandez,
Steve and Tim Rajeff, Ken Hanley, Jay Murakoshi, Jay Fair, John Razanych,
Lee Haskin, Leo Gutterres, Bob Scheidt, Lincoln Gray, Gary McConnell,
Chuck Echer, Terry Eggleston and Jeff Putnam. In addition, all the major
fly fishing gear manufacturers will be represented there too.
