what: General Meeting
details:
Speaker:    Daniel Anthon
Subject:    Klamath steelhead:
Having fly-fished all over California, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington since the age of 8, Dan has seen what the Pacific North West has to offer. Spoiled on the Bounty of the Sierra Nevada's, Dan Anthon was raised upon the shores of North Lake Tahoe in Carnelian Bay. Dan learned to fly fish on the creeks and rivers that flow through the Tahoe National Forest.  Under the guidance of Andre Puyans and Ned Long, Dan honed his fly-tying skills and improved his fishing abilities. After moving to Northern California to pursue a degree in Fisheries Biology, Dan quickly found himself at home as he began to teach the Introductory Fly Fishing course at Humboldt State University. Dan received his certification in Casting Instruction from the Federation of Fly Fishers by master instructors Mel Krieger and Joe Liebu. While attending Humboldt State University, Dan became familiar with the waters of Humboldt County as he regularly guided white water rafting trips.  Dan began working with
the Marble Mountain Ranch as a white water guide, but it was quickly apparent that his passion for fly fishing was far too great to go unused.  Soon after, Dan began to develop the fly fishing program at Marble Mountain Ranch, which he returns to each fall for the arrival of the steelhead.  Dan has been fly fishing and guiding the waters of the Southern Sierras and the Kern since 2000.  Dan has also spent time fishing the surf lines of Belize, the Yucatan, and Baja California. When he is not guiding, Dan is working as a Fisheries Biologist on the rivers of Ventura County, California and helping run The Artful Angler, a fly shop in Carpenteria California.
