In July of 1987, I was supposed to receive the gavel from Art Ferruzzi, but as I was at the Moose Lake Lodge in British Columbia, I could do it only in spirit.

The first speaker of my term was Jim Victorine, on black bass fishing in the foothills of the Sierra. Jack Giles took on the job of conservation chairman. Aponolio Canyon (Creek) was being worked over by BFI and needed our support. In September, we produced 5 1/2 dozen flies for the raffle at the Conclave at Tahoe. The speaker for September was Chris Korich who took 2nd place at the World Games in 1981, and still holds a world's record in one of the events. The weekend at the Conclave was enjoyed by those staying at Heidelman Lodge.

Our speaker for October was Dick Nelson, who showed us his many techniques of tying flies. We had an addition to the workshop when Bob Shadle started his rod-building class. For November we had Milt Jensen from Chico give a lecture on still water and spring creek fishing. Also in November we made revisions in the by-laws with the help of Gordon Rockhill. Jack Giles continued to write good items about conservation for all our monthly bulletins.

Christmas dinner was a great event, as usual. Don Green won the rod, a Fisher 3-3/4 wt. We looked forward to Michael Fong's program in January. The club collected $100.00 to support Tom Furrer's Casa Grande High School project of clearing out debris from a stream in Petaluma to help bring back spawning King Salmon.

In February, the club had it's second auction. The Redondo Fishout wa cancelled due to damage from a storm hitting the area. The March speaker was Randy Johnson who spoke on fishing the Tahoe area. The club started up a library of VHS tapes for members to borrow. The auction netted the club close to $300.00, so it was a success. The April speaker was Dewayne Johnson from the Department of Fish and Game.

For May, Jerry Sward organized the Golf Tournament. Fishouts at Martis Lake near Tahoe, (shad and bass) and Coho fishout in the Oroville area with Jack Garnett. May also brough Jim Adams to the club to talk on still water techniques in North Calif. waters.

In June, the Trininty River and Lewiston fishouts were planned. Ken Tetzel put together a fine outline on the four major orders of aquatic insects for four issues of the bulletin. The club picked up 20 new members since June and great workshops were being attended by many members. A wonderful new slate of officers was nominated for the coming year.

Les Junge was the June speaker. His topic was on boat safety. We had a Truckee fishout in June.

The dues were raised $4.00 per year to $24.00. We ended up the year with fishouts at Truckee and Lewiston.
