The end of one era starts the beginning of another. Sincere thanks go out to Mandy Anderson, her board of directors and all the committee chairs that helped to make the last year such a success.
This year represents a definite challenge to me, for although I am recalling upon my past experience, I have been out of the administration of the club for several years. Considerable concentration is required to bring quality speakers to the club. Many of the past speakers have gained in notoriety and require considerable booking schedules or are no longer speaking at clubs. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the club still needs assistance. A new bulletin editor, fish-out leaders and someone to find and lead field-conservation efforts and/or workshops are a few of the areas that require additional energy and help.
The Peninsula Fly Fisher (PFFer's, a term referred to in the past) has the reputation of being one of the most active, and in my opinion, best clubs in the area. I look forward to the challenge and with your help this year's officers and board will strive to maintain your trust and respect.
The August speaker will be Mike Kalpan of Sugar Creek Ranch. The title of his talk will be "Learn the Secrets of Large Trout." See you all there.
