I'm looking at the calendar and the sobering realization struck like a lead weight at the end of a fly line with a treble hook attached. We are almost ready for a new board and officers. My year as president is rapidly coming to a close.
June will be the final month of my tenure and a new crew will take over in July. This thought brings me to the important part of this month's message. We need members to be board members, committee chairs, officers and fishout leaders. If you would like to help out the club by volunteering, please see Rodney Chun, George Conway or myself. Not only will your work improve the quality of our organization, but also I guarantee that you'll make a lot of new friends along the way.
That said, I have greatly enjoyed the last year as your president and I highly recommend that all members get involved. Even after my "retirement," I know I will still be there with all the other dedicated members growing and contributing to the club.
Thank you again for the vote of confidence to be your president this last year.
The speaker this month , Rachel, will join us at Max's in Redwood City for Dinner at 6:00, before the meeting. Rachel is an accomplished fresh and saltwater guide located in Redding.
June's speaker is coming all the way from Montana to give us some tips on the sport. Lori Ann Murphy, of Real Women, promises to provide an interesting program. You'll want to be there.
Finally, I'm happy to report that the casting workshop successfully restarted last month with a number of PFF members at Erckenbrack Park, improving their skills. Instructors in attendance included Wayne Taylor, Ron Kilgore and myself, and we were able to offer them advice and tips on the finer points of casting. The May casting workshop is scheduled for Saturday, May 21. Don't miss it.
