Spey Casting Tune-Up for Shad Fishing on the American River- May 21st


Jeff Putnam, a professional Fly caster, who's Company specializes in single and 2 hand Spey casting will share and demonstrate his knowledge with you on the American River fishing for Shad May 21st  5:00 PM to 9:00

 6 rods required. Deadline for sign up May 16th. We will be fishing for Shad and we can always meet early to spend more time on the water before the class

Cost $75 per for 6 rods. Price will decrease with 8 rods.

Class objective: 

4 hour spey casting tune up and shad fishing school for up to 8 people (6 minimum)

 

The school will begin at 5pm and finish at last light- 9pm.  

We'll cover everything from spey casting instruction/tune up, equipment setup for shad and access on the American River specifically about swinging flies for shad.  

This class would be best for spey casters that have a spey rod with some limited experience.

Meeting Place: TBA (Dependent upon water flows)

Equipment list:

Jeff will provide rods and lines for the group to try-out

Waders/Boots

Spey Rod (5-7 weight) with lines and tips (Type 3 and Type 6 sinking tip, MOW Tip or Versa Leaders)

#8 or #10 lb Tippet

Assortment of Shad flies sizes #6 - #8

Valid 2016 California Fishing License with Steelhead Report Card
