At the bottom of this email some additional sources and information for those that want to buy their own blanks.

You need to purchase;

Rod Blank, Reel Seat, Grip, Guides (Fuji Alconite), Tip Top, Thread, Cap for end of grip. You should consider when purchasing weight, pieces, Action and length. Prices vary depending on brand.
Doug suggests going on line to Angler’s Workshop in Washington. Call Doug for help with what to purchase.

Everyone needs to purchase 2 oz. Finish kit. Do not get high build. Each rod will need 2-3 coats minimum. Each Rod will need Thread, Doug has some, however you may wish to purchase this as well online.

Each participant will be expected to make time to do work on the rod between classes so that the rod can be completed by the end of the 6 Session Course.

If additional time or instructions are needed between classes you can discuss and make arrangements with Doug. Doug has limited tools, so do what you can at each session and then work on your rod at home between classes.

Doug has a very sweet Chocolate Lab who loves everyone. If you have a concern with dogs please let Doug know and he will put her in her cage during class.

From Bob Schwehr: "....The Mud Hole is a famous parts store, howvever I have had better luck with other outlets. Cabelas has many items.

I have found Madison River Fishing company to be a great source of blanks and parts. They will also coach you on what to buy if asked. Also The Blue Ribbon Fly shop is good. mrfc.com

I have lost count, but I think I have bought seven fly rod blanks from them... They often sell famous blanks at a discount when they are transitioning to a new model. They seem to sell all the major brands..."
