Second Annual Ken Eugene Memorial Knot Tying Workshop

Following up on last years acclaimed workshop, we will once again pay homage to our late uber mentor Ken Eugene with a concentrated focus on just a few knots.

We will start with a review of the Eugene bend. Those who are not familiar with this 100% strength knot will have the opportunity for breakout group instruction. We will also learn the Eugene sling, a 100% loop knot.

Moving up the leader, we will tie and test three tippet to leader knots. When you tie your fly on with a 100% Eugene bend, and your tippet to leader knot is less than 80%, you end up replacing a lot of tippet.

We will determine the relative strengths of the blood knot (right way and wrong way), surgeon’s knot, and Seaguar knot.

Please bring your old tippet material, hemostats, and nippers.

Richard Izmirian will be assisted by E.J. Melzer and Sheree Kajiwara

Join us at the regular Thursday workshop at the Highlands Community Center, 7:30 pm, December 5, 2013.
