The Wet, The Wild, and the Best Fish stories ever.

June 28-July6

It is time again for the third return engagement of backpacking on the Kern River.

This time we are starting from the Quaking Aspen campground in the Sequoia National forest at 7500’ feet and descending into the little Kern. Then it is a short hop and the over the ridge to the Kern River. Coming up from the south means we will herd the trout upstream schooling them with enticing flies de jour.  Naturally, in honor of the 4th of July this would be sparkling gold beaded flies with glitter thread.  We will also pass by Little Kern Lake and Kern Lake to see if there are any trout lounging on the beaches.
