October Workshop - Introduction to Spey and Switch Rods

  • October 07, 2021
  • 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
  • 1665 Fernside Street, Redwood City, CA 94061

There's a whole other world of fly fishing that involves fishing with 2-handed fly rods.  Originally huge 14-15 ft behemoths from Scotland's River Spey designed for fishing for Atlantic salmon, spey rods and their shorter cousins switch rods have become extremely affordable, accessible and popular to all fly anglers.

PFF Life Member and former President Mike McGuire will provide an introduction to spey and switch rods, how to outfit them with the correct fly lines and leaders, and how to rig your flies when fishing with 2-handed rods.  Two handed rods are extremely popular with Northern California steelhead anglers who swing flies, but they are also very popular with American Shad anglers and even trout anglers.  If you'd like to learn about this exciting and rapidly-growing type of fly fishing, please join us on Oct. 7.

This workshop will be in-person only and not available on Zoom. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and must wear a face mask when indoors.
