Guest speaker: Jessie Raeder, Tuolumne River Trust

Here are some highlights:
Though many are not aware, Tuolumne River is the major source of water for San Francisco and much of the Peninsula.  This Wild & Scenic river is also the largest tributary to the San Joaquin River, which then flows into the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta – an incredibly important place in California both ecologically and politically.  The Tuolumne River Trust has been protecting this river for 30 years, and is now engaged in an excited new period of moving from protecting the Tuolumne to actually restoring it’s health and vitality.  Coming up soon, the Tuolumne River Trust’s annual Paddle to the Sea is a month long boating adventure that starts in Yosemite National Forest with one of the best whitewater-rafting runs in California, continues with canoeing through the Central Valley, and finishes with sea kayaking and sailing in the Delta and Bay. A few do the whole trip, many more join in for a day along the way.  The paddlers connect with river adventurers, scientists and local experts with first-hand knowledge of plant life, wildlife, fish habitats and people living along the river's banks. Join us to learn about this amazing trip and the spectacular river that is crucial for the present and future environmental health for millions of people, wildlife, plant life and fish habitats.
