Frank Burr provides great information on California's 11 Heritage Trout species, and how and where you can fish for them. He also covers how to participate in CDFW's
Heritage Trout Challenge, which rewards anglers for catching six of the 11 species, providing proof and then being rewarded with beautiful full color drawings of those species. He also talks about the lesser-known California Fishing Passport, which rewards anglers for catching different species (native and non-native) on their gear of choice, a "lower bar" than the Heritage program.
