August Workshop -- Saving the World's Wild Salmon

  • August 06, 2020
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Zoom videoconferencing (login details to be sent later)

Speakers: Guido Rahr, President/CEO and Emily Anderson, Alaska Program Director, the Wild Salmon Center

Few animals have been as central to the Pacific human experience as salmon. Their annual migrations are a miracle of nature. They feed us and their presence tells us that our rivers are still healthy. From grizzly bears to orca whales, at least 137 different species depend on the marine-rich nutrients that wild salmon provide.

Guido Rahr has been on a lifelong quest to save the world's wild salmon.  He's the subject of the bestselling book Stronghold: One Man's Quest to Save the World's Wild Salmon. He will talk about his quest for the conservation and protection of wild salmon worldwide and the formation of the Wild Salmon Center.  Additionally he and Emily Anderson, the center's Alaska Program Chair, will provide an update on the center’s efforts to stop the fast-tracked controversial Pebble Mine project in Bristol Bay, Alaska.
